Lady Dr. Marcheta Williams

Presiding Prelate of the 5th Episcopal District.
As the new Bishop and Supervisor of the Fifth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, we are thrilled to embark on this journey with you. Our theme, Mental Health, Music, and Mission, draws inspiration from Acts 16:25-26, where Paul and Silas, through their prayers and singing, not only experienced personal liberation but also transformed their entire community. Their faith and worship led to a miraculous earthquake that opened prison doors and set everyone free. Our anchor song is Blessed Assurance, reminding us that everything is already alright.

Mental Health
Multiple pandemics and compounded grief have taken a toll on our well-being. Restoring and maintaining our mental health is essential. Just as Paul and Silas found strength in their faith, we must create a supportive environment within our church where everyone feels valued and heard. We will use all available resources to create opportunities for healing and hope.
“Ministering to the Social, Spiritual, and Physical Development of All People”
The mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed. At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved: that is, to seek and save the lost, and serve the needy through a continuing programs of:
